People come from across the city and much farther afield in the region to worship at St John’s. Everyone finds a warm welcome and soon feels at home, becoming part of our ‘church family’.
Along with its beautiful historic architecture, St John’s maintains its roots in the traditional Catholic worship practised by the Church of England. Our music and hymns reflect the best of ancient and modern styles, while candle-lit festival Masses and choral music during Easter and Christmas always delight. Each month we hold a service for healing, while parishioners too sick to attend Mass are supported with hospital or home visits.
Traditional charm joins with contemporary community service; St John’s is an arts and entertainment venue and community groups meet in the church hall. Refreshments are available in the hall each Saturday morning from 10.00am - 12.00noon.
To help us maintain our Catholic nature within the Church of England we are now affiliated to 'The Society'. For further information about this, click the following logo, which will take you to their website.
